Quests and Rankings

Posted above are all available quests and requests on the Rendezvous town bulletin board. Merle maintains this board, and if a character wishes to post a request of their own, they can submit their flyer to Merle for approval and posting. Any quest marked with a green star signifies that successful completion of the quest will elevate someone's ranking (though the 'success' may not necessarily equal quest completion). To sign up for a quest, leave a comment in the thread with that particular request, and more instructions or information will be given.
There are just a few rules to keep in mind:
1. A character can only sign up for one quest at a time. They may choose to abandon a current quest, but if so, they will not be allowed to take that quest again.
2. A player who makes a quest/request post cannot send their own character on that quest without mod permission.
3. A player-made quest that affects ranking needs mod approval.
4. A character may choose to decline a rise in rank after completing a quest, but cannot bank or transfer the rank reward.
To post a request, fill out this form:
Rankings
Below is a list of rankings, which will be listed on the character's profile on the Taken Page.
Squire
To achieve the rank of 'squire,' a character must be mentored by someone of 'knight' rank or above and complete one rank-rising quest. Squires don't get much as a result of their rank, but if their mentors are dedicated to training their proteges, the squires might be allowed to accompany their mentors on more dangerous quests. The mentor may gift the squire with a weapon or mount, but this isn't a guaranteed reward.
Guardian
Requires the completion of two quests. Someone who has achieved this rank is eligible to serve as a town guard or castle guard if they choose to pursue such a career.
Knight
Only a member of royalty can bestow this rank, and it requires the completion of three quests. A knight is often gifted with a good set of armor, a masterwork weapon of their preference, and a horse or mount of some type. Knights are often chosen to accompany or guard members of the royal family, and are called upon to serve as heroes to the villagers in the kingdom.
Knight Commander
Requires the completion of four quests. A Knight Commander may lead other knights and squires with some level of authority, though the participants are not under strict orders to obey them and may decline to participate in a Knight Commander's quest. This rank is required to be eligible as a Royal Cavalier or member of the Holy Order. A Knight Commander does not have to join either of these factions, but no one of lower rank will be eligible otherwise.
Baron/Baroness
After the completion of five quests, a character will be deemed worthy to oversee the protection of a small village within the kingdom's expanse. Villages are small and typically have a population of around fifty people, with 1-3 farms. Characters of this ranking may elect a mayor to oversee the daily duties of running a town if they'd prefer to continue adventuring.
Earl/Countess
Requires the completion of seven quests. A keep or fortress will be constructed to the character's desires, and the population of the town is likely to grow once it becomes clear that the earl/countess is managing affairs adequately. More farmers are likely to claim land in this territory, and villages often expand into busy towns. Construction of the keep/fortress takes two seasons (two months) to complete.
Duke/Duchess
Once a character has completed ten quests of noteworthy acclaim, they are appointed guardians of a large parcel of land and eligible to meet with the king to discuss political matters. The keep or fortress may be expanded to a more impressive manor or castle, and the population of the city swells. The player of the Duke/Duchess may decide if there are enough people to make their city immune to the blight, or continue to fight against it.
King/Queen/Prince/Princess
Any Duke or Duchess may choose to depart from the kingdom with the king's blessing (though with the understanding that the two countries will be united with a treaty) to establish a territory of their own if the land is unclaimed. They may also wage war against evil or villainous monarchs to usurp their throne rather than claiming uninhabited land, which may grant more resources and land in general, but this option carries a heavy toll in that the blight is often drawn to places of great tragedy, and the blood spilled in a war is one of the worst tragedies that can occur. Characters of this rank have the same responsibilities as King Barad, and may issue quests, appoint knights, forge treaties and alliances, and generally do whatever they like.
