Factions
Royal Cavaliers
Headquarters: Barad Mala
Leader: King Barad
Members: (None)
These knights serve as the king's personal guards, and by extension they guard the princess as well. One must have been knighted to become a part of this prestigious group of warriors. The relationship between the Cavaliers is tight, clannish almost, and they look out for one another, quest together, and generally behave like brothers and sisters. Their colors when serving active duty are midnight blue and silver.
Holy Order
Headquarters: Barad Mala
Leader: Mazir
Members: Chrom (Order of Steel)
King Barad's holy man, Mazir, is in charge of these guards. The Holy Order is further divided into three specialties: The Order of Steel, The Order of the Rose, and The Order of the Sun. There is a somewhat friendly rivalry between the Holy Order and the Royal Cavaliers, and it's not unusual for opposing members to compete, boast, or play pranks on one another (so long as it doesn't interfere with royal/holy duties).
The Order of Steel: Comprises Mazir's personal guards, though they may also be dispatched to guard other areas or persons if Mazir gives the word. They are generally regarded as excellent fighters. Prince Chrom belongs to this order and has a small retinue of fighters that accompany him on his travels, but he has declined the offer to claim full leadership.
The Order of the Rose: Protects farmers and civilians, usually serving as town guards or teachers in the art of geomancy. Rose guardians know at least a little about farming, and though generally seen as benevolent and peaceful, their command of natural magic is fierce.
The Order of the Sun: Members serve as powerful healers who also focus on pushing back the blight. Their magic repels the evil undead.
Harvest Guild
Headquarters: Rendezvous (Barad Mala)
Leader: Merle
Members: (None)
Maintained by Mayor Merle, who oversees the farmers living in and around Rendezvous. Anyone interested in taking up the farming trade is given a small house to live in, a barn that can hold four large animals (sheep, cows, horses, etc.), and a modest plot of land. Merle encourages farmers to expand their territory and increase their skills by hosting festivals and competitions, where the winners are granted prizes like rare seeds, additional land, the right to use premium land for an allotted time, and licenses to take on extra trades such as blacksmithing, potion making, access to secret mines, and more. Farmers that are part of the guild have a reserved spot for their goods at the open market, and they may make ample use of the town bulletin board to request certain products, animals, seeds, herbs, etc.
